NCCER Craft Expirations Policy Update

06/30/2021 Press Release

News Brief

NCCER’s curricula are typically revised every three to five years to ensure we are staying up to date with code revisions and changes in industry practices.

Effective July 2021, NCCER will adopt the following craft expiration policy:

• The previous edition of a revised title expires three years after the final level of its revision is released.

For example, if the sixth edition of Carpentry Level 4 is published in 2022, the fifth edition of Carpentry Level 4 will expire three years after that date in 2025.

• When a craft title has expired, it is no longer accepted in the Registry for credentialing.
