ABC Names the 2021 Craft Professional of the Year

GRAPEVINE, Texas, March 11—Associated Builders and Contractors today announced Pat Wilburn, senior superintendent, DynaTen Corp., Alvarado, Texas, was named the 2021 Craft Professional of the Year. Wilburn was honored at ABC Convention 2021 in Grapevine, Texas, on March 9.

ABC presents the annual Craft Professional of the Year award to a construction craft professional who excels in his or her field, demonstrating a commitment to safety, education and the merit shop philosophy.

“Pat Wilburn’s level of expertise when it comes to elevating the plumbing industry with a focus on safety, hard work and dedication is unmatched,” said 2021 ABC National Chair of the Board of Directors Steve Klessig, vice president of architecture and engineering, Keller Inc., Kaukauna, Wisconsin. “With more than three decades of experience in the construction field, Wilburn is consistently raising the bar in excellence while encouraging other craft professionals to do the same. It’s an honor to recognize Pat for his contributions to our industry.”

With more than 30 years of experience in construction sector and 20 years of experience as a construction instructor, Wilburn has managed students and teams of all backgrounds and experience levels. Wilburn does what it takes to get the job done safely, on time and within budget while using modern technology to enhance his superintendent skills.

Wilburn holds his team to the highest regard, ensuring every worker feels a sense of belonging to the crew and company. He is also a family man who volunteers in his community, making repairs through Habitat for Humanity and counseling young boys who may not have a strong family to improve their life.

As Craft Professional of the Year, Wilburn received a $10,000 cash prize from co-sponsors NCCER, the training, assessment, certification and career development standard for the construction industry, and Tradesmen International, North America’s premier craft professional staffing resource. Cayton will also be profiled in the April issue of Construction Executive magazine.
