Crane Operator Certification
NCCER partnered with the North American Crane Bureau (NACB) and Prov to develop the Crane Operator Certification Program. The program consists of written assessments and practical examinations that meet or exceed current ASME B30.5 consensus safety standards, as well as OSHA 1910 standards, for mobile crane operators. The Industrial/All-Purpose, Rough Terrain/All Terrain and Rubber Tire Truck Mount programs are accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
The purposes of the program are:
- To enhance the practice and profession of crane operation through the establishment of validated and reliable certification instruments that accurately assess the competency of a wide range of crane operators, thereby directly promoting competency of operation and a safer work environment
- To organize and implement a comprehensive program for the qualification of crane operators
- To promote the development of knowledge and skills of those interested in the crane operating and hoisting profession
- To provide technical assistance to agencies having hoisting and crane operator regulatory authority, applicable to testing and certification

Note: This program is independent of the Contren® Learning Series Mobile Crane curricula and assessment.
